Even if your Druid has avoided it in the past, Player versus Player (PvP) combat is in their future. WotLK has brought a new emphasis to WoW World PvP. The big change is apparent in the new real time PvP battle zone called Lake Wintergrasp, where the fact of life is always-on, real-time World PvP.

In this new zone, you battle on the live server to win points you can convert into a wide variety of rare and valuable items, including the new Heirloom items that any of the player’s characters in that account regardless of that character’s level can take advantage of.

Fighting PvP as a Druid offers many options and opportunities, along with the potential for confusion and frustration. Druids are very tough to kill in the arena, and are unaffected by many of the magical skills used by their opponents. With their ability to switch forms, heal, and even tank when necessary, they can do it all in PvP. Unfortunately for you, that very versatility makes Druids prime targets, and makes Druid PvP play very challenging.

Because Druids can do so many different things, they have a different ideal strategy for fighting every opposing class. Believe it or not, the best Druid Player versus Player gamers know and use 9 different strategies to one on one combat, one for each type of opponent they face. On top of that, you’ll need to be able to adapt your Druid’s combat tactics to account for the strengths and weaknesses of your team mates. It’s a lot to learn, but the rewards are great.

Most people believe that Druids are the best class for 2v2 arena play. Some would argue for the Rogue, but the Druid adds more depth and variety to 2-person teams. A well designed Druid using strong strategy and tactics can own most any opponent in duels, and lead a top-tier 2v2 arena team. These same attributes make Druids great additions to most 3v3 or 5v5 teams.
