PvE Bible – Dominate the Instances!

.

Are you lost and bewildered when you’re on a raid? Do you envy all your guild mates who are exploring the wild new instances in Northrend and who own raids like The Eye of Eternity and The Vault of Archavon?

I did.

I had no clue about raiding or even what instances really were. All I knew was that they sounded wild and fun and I wanted in! But I didn’t know how to get there.

Now I do.

I mean I’m not done with all the Northrend content yet. Not close. But now I’m on my way and I know I’m gonna get there eventually.

The reason I’m sure I’m gonna get there is simple. I got myself a copy of the PvE Bible.

The PvE Bible is a guide to Northrend and all the raids available as of the 3.2 patch. It’s the secret to my new-found success with raids and instances.

Why I Love the PvE Bible

I had high expectations for the PvE Bible even before I bought my copy. Why? Because it is written by T Dub (Tony) Sanders. I’ve used T Dub’s stuff before. He wrote the PvP Bible and is part of the team that produces the Warcraft Formula each month. The man knows what he’s talking about.

“With the help of the guide you will surely lead a better game as the Pve Bible enhances your abilities and allows you to feel a drastic difference in your play after going through the guide. I am sure I did!”

So I was confident that the PvE Bible was going to be good. And I was right.

The bible is 334 pages long, and crammed full of facts, strategies, and tactics for all the new raids and instances. There’s no fluff here, just meat. T Dub tests everything himself, so you know that it works. Here’s a little bit of what he’s done:

Sanders gives a complete analysis of each instance and raid. For example, Utgarde Keep is the first instance I needed to learn about. In the bible, there are maps of the instance, along with lists of mobs, quests, and achievements that are available.

The bible also shows the reputation you can earn in the instance. Then things really get good!

The next section breaks down every boss encounter in the Keep. For each one, T Dub lists the special abilities they have, experience points, available loot, all the factual stuff.

More importantly, he tells you what you need to do to defeat that boss. There’s no fluff here either. T Dub explains exactly what your group needs to do to take down the boss. If your party is tough enough to be here, you’ll know what to do to win each fight.

What About Raiding?

Now you’re probably wondering if there’s enough info about raiding. Don’t worry. T Dub give each raid even more detailed information than the instances! For example, He goes way above and beyond with his guide to Naxxramas. I’m talking about 53 pages of extreme details that gives your raiding party everything it needs to know to dominate.

What kind of details? Well, he starts with a couple of pages of Raid Preparation advice for 10 man and 25 man parties. Then he moves on to talk about the Achievements available to each size of party.

But first, he covers a bit of outdated advice on resistance gear. This is the kind of thing I love about the PvE Bible. The bible is new and current, and so is the advice in it. Plus, Sanders has promised to continue to update the bible for each new patch and release, so you will never have to worry that the advice you’re getting is obsolete. I hate buying guides that go obsolete in weeks or months, so this is a real relief. But back to the story…

After he gets all that preliminary stuff out of the way, Sanders takes us through each wing of the raid zone, with info about the mobs you’ll run into and the bosses you’ll encounter. He tells you what you need to know to beat them all and gain all the Achievements and loot available.

The rest of the raids get similar treatment. Sanders tells you what you need to know for each, although not in quite the painstaking detail as he did with Naxx.

I’m sure you can see why I’m feeling so much better about things. I know what’s going on in each raid and instance, and I know exactly what my character needs to do to pull his weight and help the party through. Now if I could just find a few hours more each day to play…
